Orgy

The orgy is a French Danse end of the 18th century, particularly appraisal under the Directoire. It was then introduced into several operas and ballets.
In 1861, Richard Wagner adds a orgy to its opera Tannhäuser , during its creation to the Opéra of Paris the March 13rd. The choreography of this orchestral entertainment is due to Lucien Petipa. During various resumptions of work with Bayreuth, other choreographers will substitute their own compositions for it: Isadora Duncan in 1904, Kurt Jooss and Rudolf Laban in 1930, Maurice Béjart in 1961. This last will then integrate it into Wagner or the insane Love (1963).
