Organology

The organology is the science of the musical instruments. She proposes a quadripartite classification of the instruments, based on the way in which the sounds are produced:

  • cords or String instrument (cordophones rubbed, gripped or struck) ,

  • winds or instruments wind:
*les wood (aérophones with bevel or sheer) ,
*les copper S (aérophones with labial vibrations) .
  • the percussion or percussion instruments:
*les skins (membranophones granted or not) ,
*les keyboard S (idiophones granted) ,
*les additional (idiophones with its unspecified) .

Another classification takes into account the history of the techniques of production of the organized sounds:
