Organization of the Iranian women

the Organization of the Iranian Women (OFI) was an organization working for the rights of women. It was founded in 1964 with the princess Ashraf Pahlavi for president. This organization takes the continuation of the High council of the Women which had been founded in 1949 by Ashraf Pahlavi.

The high council had opened offices in all the country, while concentrating on health, education and voluntary work. In 1964, the high council becomes the Organization of the Iranian Women.

The OFI dealt with center social, of which the number was assembled in Iran to 97 in 1976. These centers had various activities: helps with childhood, formation, family planning and council legal enter others.

The year 1975 was one year very active for the OFI, the delegations Iranian took part in many gathering international, of which the Conference of the the United Nations for the women's rights to the Mexico, to which the Ashraf princess proposes the creation of an research institute and formation for the businesses of the women, which was founded with Teheran.

Moreover, the OFI continued research on various subjects like the social, economic and political problems. These subjects were intended to propose new regulations to ensure of the more equitable conditions for the women.

In 1978, the day before the Iranian Revolution, the organization had 349 offices, 113 centers and chapeautait 55 other organizations which dealt of health and the wellbeing. The last register indicates that more than one million women used the services. The majority of the centers were closed after the revolution.
