Orestie is a dramatic Trilogie of Eschyle represented in 458 av. J. - C. with the Grandes Dionysies of Athens, where it gains the first price. It is made up of three tragedies centered on the epic of the Atrides: Agamemnon (in Greek Ἀγαμέμνων ), Choéphores ( Χοηφόροι or Χοηφόρες ) and Euménides ( Εὐμενίδες ); a Drame satyric entitled Protée (lost today) was supposed to supplement it. It is the only preserved dependant trilogy.

Agamemnon

One attends with the fall of Troy and the return of Agamemnon victorious, accompanied by his prisoner Cassandre, with Argos where his wife Clytemnestre awaits it. This one hopes to avenge the sacrifice for his/her daughter Iphigénie by Agamemnon. In spite of the predictions of died Cassandre announcing his characteristic, the king and the prophetess are killed.

Choéphores

After the death of his/her father, Electra wishes that the crime be punished, in answer of what Apollon returns Oreste, wire of Agamemnon, in Argos to avenge his/her father. He kills Clytemnestre, thus awaking the thirst for justice of the Érinyes, goddesses avenger. At the end Argos is destroyed.

Euménides

After a long wandering, Oreste, always continued by Érinyes, arrives at the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphes where it is purified. It is then presented in front of the Aréopage (court Athenian) and judged by Athéna. It gives him reason and Érinyes becomes the Euménides (the benevolent ones). The curse which weighed on Atrides is thus raised.
