Biography

Oreja Of Van Gogh (the Ear Of Van Gogh) is a group of music pop Spanish formed in 1996, by a group of young people who knew each other at the university: Pablo Benegas the guitarist, Álvaro Fuentes the Bass player, Xabi San Martín with the keyboard and Haritz Keeps the Batteur. The four students were accustomed to playing of pieces of alternative Rock for the pleasure, before meeting Amaia Montero, the singer of the group. They form the group then and decide to make a model; the song is not any more one master key time, but a vocation. Later, the group finishes first with the Contest the Pop one/Rock of Saint-Sebastien. That enabled them to sign a contract with Sony Music. In 1998, their first album, Dile Al Ground , are on sale and are a great success in Spain; it belongs to the best sales of the year and gains a “Premio Ondas” as artist of the year. The group leaves in round and will leave two other albums thereafter: El Viaje de Copperpot and Lo that told you will mientras to you hacías the dormida . Their songs speak about adolescence, its secrecies, youth, the first loves…

In 2006, the group leaves a new album, Guapa , which is a great success in Spain. The first individual one is entitled Muñeca of trapo (headstock of rag).

November 19th, 2007, the Amaia singer announces that it leaves the group to continue her career alone.
