The ordoliberalism (in German, or for a political policy ordolibérale called of scheduling) is current of economic thinking, developed in Germany between the years 1930 and 1950, which gave rise to the system of social economy of market.

Then, the preserving economists of the FR of Germany, Walter Eucken, Wilhelm Röpke and Alfred Müller-Armack for example, expressed themselves in the review Ordo . They influenced the economic policy of the various German chancellors, which haloed them intellectual paternity of the “West German economic miracle”.

Bases

According to the theory ordolibérale, the State has as a responsibility to create a legal framework and institutional with the economy, and to maintain a level healthy of competition “free and not distorted” via measurements in agreement with the laws of the market. Indeed, if the State does not take measurements anticipated to encourage competition, the Entreprise S will give rise to Monopole S or Oligopole S. That will result in to divert the economic advantages offered by the market, and perhaps in the long term to sap the Démocratie, the economic capacity being able to change of political power.

The State thus has a role of " ordonateur".

According to Stephen Padgett, a central pillar of the ordoliberalism is a “Division of the labor” clearly definite between actors of economic management:

  • the Monetary policy is under the responsibility of a Central bank with the shelter of the political power, devoted to monetary stability and to weak a Inflation,
  • the Budget policy , balanced, belongs to the government,
  • the fixing of the wages and the work conditions is divided between the employers and the Syndicat S.

Discusses

There is currently a debate " Ordnungspolitik vs Prozesspolitik" , i.e. between the Political of scheduling and political of process.
