Ordinance No 13

The Ordinance No 13 , (stopped No 13) of the Legislative council of the island Maurice, promulgated on December 17th, 1846, fixed, inter alia, the postage rate interns as follows:

  • 2 Pence by half ounce (14,175 G) for the rural mail.
  • 1 penny per ounce for the urban mail.
The new regulations came into effect as from the New Year's Day 1847.

The new article of this decree specifies that any letter, newspaper or coli must be freed with stamps station not having never been used and with the necessary values.
