The toponym Garraibi appears in the forms Garraibie (1422, chapter of Bayonne), Guarraybie and Garraybie (respectively about 1460 and in 1747, contracts of Ohix), Garrabia (1479, chapter of Bayonne) and Garraïbe (1863, topographic dictionary Basque Béarn-Country).

Ordiarp is an old commandery which depended on the abbey of Roncevaux.
