Organization of the National order of the pharmacists

Sections and the Central Councils of the Order

The National order of the Pharmacists is organized in sections:

the section has gathers the titular pharmacists (=propriétaires) of a dispensary
the section B gathers the pharmacists exerting in a pharmaceutical activity in the drug company
the section C gathers the pharmacists working in the pharmaceutical distribution (wholesale distributers and agents)
the section D manages the assistant pharmacists (employees) in dispensary
the section E gathers all the pharmacists (some is their activity) exerting in the departments and communities of Overseas.
the section G gathers the pharmacists biologists
the section H manages the pharmacists exerting in an health care institution (hospital, private clinics,…)

Each section has a central council, made up mainly of elected officials designated by the pharmacists. The central council of each section is in particular in load of the examination of the requests for inscription but also constitutes the disciplinary room.

Only the section has a regionalized structure: each of the 21 areas defined by the legislator, has a District council about the Pharmacists (CROP), which deals with the requests for inscriptions and constitutes the disciplinary room. The Central Council of the section has is consisted of the presidents of each CROP and additional delegates for the areas comprising the most titular pharmacists. The central council of the section has allows a coordination of the whole of the CROP.

All the central councils are located at Paris.

The national council of the Order

The National council about the Pharmacists is the supreme authority about the Pharmacists. He is made up members designated by each section and pharmacists appointed by the administrations of the State (Ministry for Health, of Education,…).

He constitutes the room of call of any made disciplinary decision to the level of the Central Council (or a CROP for the case of the titular pharmacists) and coordinates the whole of the activities of the various sections.

The order of the pharmacists is competent for all the pharmacists, who they are:

Pharmacien of dispensary
hospital Pharmacien
Pharmacien of industry
Pharmacist-biologist, which exerts the clinical Biologie in a medical Analysis laboratory.

Organization

The council about the pharmacists is organized in a national council and ten provincial councils:

the provincial council of the Brabant of French expression (the Walloon Brabant + French-speaking pharmacists of the area of Brussels)
the provincial council of the Brabant of expression Dutchwoman (the Flemish Brabant + Dutch-speaking pharmacists of the area of Brussels)
the provincial council of the province of Antwerp
the provincial council of the province of Western Flanders
the provincial council of the province of Eastern Flanders
the provincial council of the province of Hainaut
the provincial council of the province of Liege
the provincial council of the province of Limbourg
the provincial council of the province of Luxembourg
the provincial council of the province of Namur

To note:

that before the bursting of the province of the Brabant at the beginning of the Years 1990 (in three pieces: area of Brussels, the Walloon Brabant, the Flemish Brabant), there were two orders for this province, according to the linguistic mode of the pharmacist. After the bursting, the status quo was respected.

Order of the pharmacists in Switzerland

The Swiss Company of pharmacists (SSPh) represents the interests of the pharmacists of Switzerland near the political officials, of the general public and the media. It defends a concerned health system of the costs which it generates and seeks of new solutions for the future supply of the population drugs. SSPh gathers the pharmacists of dispensary, industry, the administration and the hospitals.

SSPh represents the interests of the profession and of its members at the national level, fixes the basic principles of the professional policy and gives the responsability themselves to carry out and develop its services near the pharmacists and of the population. As a public partner of the health system, SSPh takes an active part in the Swiss policy of health. More than 90% of all the pharmacists who work in Switzerland are affiliated in SSPh. To the 01.08.2005, this represents 5463 members.
