Order of the knights of Notre-Dame

The Ordre of the Knights of Notre-Dame is an association secret Catholique integrist which is surrounded by a ceremonial copied on the tradition of the cross .

Origins

The abbot Stephan Vautherin, founds in 1942, the Knights of Notre-Dame (more known under his Latin name: Militia Sanctae Mariae), a kind of troop Scout E petainist which seeks to make revive the spirit of the Chevalerie.

A few years later, a young monk Benedictine, Gerard Lafond, friend of the Vautherin abbot, decide to start again the Knights of Notre-Dame for " to save the Christian Occident ".

Organization

Extremely of a hundred members, the Order organizes spiritual retirements or recollections. It also militates in charitable works, in particular the visits with the prisoners. It has as emblems a helmet of knight overhanging an armor as well as a webbed cross. It publishes a bulletin. Its behavior is sometimes described as sectarian by its contradictors.

Polemics

This Order, which cultivates discretion, was the object, in 1989, of a polemic launched by the " Canard Enchaîné " , with a provocative title: " the cassock connection which has protected for 45 years a French war criminal " Paul Touvier. As Canard Enchaîné brought it back, Paul Touvier belonged to this order of knighthood, and its members did not cease helping it, and even financially, until the last day.
