Order of the Red Flag
The Ordre of the Red Flag ( Orden Krasnogo Znamen , also translated by Order of the Red Banner ) is one of the first and highest the Décoration S soldiers Soviet S.
This decoration was decreed for military acts. It should not be confused with the Ordre of the Red Flag to Work instituted later for civil successes.
History
Genesis
The Ordre of the Red Flag of Battle is instituted by a Décret central Executive committee of the Soviet S of the workers, peasants, cossacks and soldiers of the Red Army , the September 16th 1918, in order to reward all those which would be distinguished at the time of the engagements against the white Armées. This distinction can also be allotted by each Soviet République of old the Russian Empire.
The future marshal Vassily Blücher, then ordering the Army of the partisans of the south the Ural, is the first Soviet soldier to integrate this new order, the September 28th 1918.
The 1924, Praesidium of the central executive committee issues only ability to decree this distinction and changes the name of the order for: Order of the Red Flag ( Orden Krasnogo Znamen ).
Evolution
As from this moment, it can be decreed, not only with in an individual capacity, for act of courage and valiancy to the combat, but also on a purely collective basis, any unit receiving it taking then the title of unit of Dapeau Rouge .
Until creation, the April 6th 1930, Order of Lénine, the Order of the Red Flag is the only military distinction Soviet.
In 1945, it passes from 1st to the 6ère row in the honorary order of the Soviet military distinctions.
Until the September 14th 1957 this Ordre could be, not only, decreed with the soldiers of all ranks, of man of the row with general, but still it could the being on several occasions.
From 1918 with 1977, 580.000 soldiers Soviet accepted it.
Description
The Insigne was appeared as a oval Médaillon silver plated (of 41 mm by 36 mm), with in its center a hammer and a sickle surrounded by a crown silver plated, on a star Rouge, above which a red Drapeau spreads struck inscription " Workers of all the countries you link ". At the base of the badge one finds the letters CCCP (= the USSR) in a red stringcourse.
Each badge carries a number of attribution to the back.
The Ruban was red, with a white edging on the sides and a white tape in the center.
