Order of Nichan el Anouar
Instituted in 1887 by the Hamed-Ben-Mohammed sultan and recognized by the governor of Obock, in the condition which no decoration would be decreed without its assent and which the sultan would proclaim the abolition of the draft. Recognized by the French government on July 17th 1888 and decreed by the president of the republic since May 10th 1896. Five classes: Grand Cross, large-officer, commander, officer, knight.
