Order of Manitoba
The Order of Manitoba , creates in 1999, is the highest distinction of the Canadian province of the Manitoba. A maximum of twelve individuals can be decorated annually, except its first year of existence, where a limit of twenty had been established.
The order recognizes the individuals having made important contributions to the cultural life, social and economic of the province. According to the site about Manitoba: “ the members of the Order receive a beautiful medal resembling a stylized crocus, the floral emblem of the province, and comprising the cupboards of Manitoba surmounted by the Crown. They also receive a épinglette and a certificate, and they have the right to use initial “the O.M. ” after their name. ”
Eligibility
Any person currently residing at Manitoba, or of former residents of long time, are eligible to receive the Order. The federal and provincial elected officials, as well as the members of the legal system, are not eligible when they are in station. The nominations on a purely posthumous basis are not accepted.

- the clerk of the Executive council
- the president of the University of Manitoba, the vice-chancellor of the University of Torch or that of the University of Winnipeg, each one being useful in turn for period a two years, in the order enumerated
- not more than four members named by the lieutenant-governor in council, for one three years period, one of these people being indicated president of the Council
