Orchestrates French young people

The French Orchestre of the young people ( Ofj ) is a Symphony orchestra - school made up of young people Instrumentiste S French, renewed each year, resulting from whole France.

History

Founded in 1982 by the French Ministry of the Culture, the purpose of it is “to offer to young French musicians preparing with a musical career the occasion of a thorough experiment of the life of orchestra. ”

The young people have, to be able to enter the orchestra, the obligation to be at least in the year of obtaining DEM. They are then selected by contest (as in the majority of the professional orchestras), which guarantees an unquestionable quality with the orchestra. They gather then for a period of the year when they carry out a work of repetitions, helped by professional soloists, resulting from French and/or foreign orchestras. Their work is concretized then by a two weeks round in France and sometimes in Europe, carried out under the rod of recognized professional chiefs, with the image of Jerome Kaltenbach, Emmanuel Krivine, Sylvain Cambreling, Jesús López Cobos, Marek Janowski, Jean-Claude Casadesus (until December 2007) and Dennis Russell Davies (2008-2010).

In 2007, the French orchestra of the young people celebrated its 25 years.

From the winter 2007, the French Orchestra of the Young people will be in residence with Aix-en-Provence, with the Grand Theater of Provence.

The leader invited for the session 2008 will be the American chief Dennis Russell Davies.

The session of summer 2007 proceeded from August 13rd, 2007 to September 9th, 2007, under the direction of Jean-Claude Casadesus.

The session of winter 2007 will take place from December 13rd to 23rd 2007, under the direction of Jean-Claude Casadesus, in residence in the new concert hall of Aix-en-Provence (Grand Theater of Provence).

The session of summer 2008 will take place from July 27th, 2008 to August 21st, 2008, under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies.
