Orchamps-Vennes

Orchamps-Vennes is a common French, located in the department of the Doubs and the area Franche-Comté.

Geography and climate

Located at the doors of Haut-Doubs, the commune undergoes a climate with dominant continental.

History

The commune became probably the " capitale" valley of Vennes at the beginning of 16th because the notable ones settled there. To date, all the services of a village center are present, as well as very strong community life. The Festival Committee prepares in May of each year the exposure of the “Hidden Gifts” which sees a public increasingly many. One evening organized with Miss France was a fantastic success. Farm out of bronze installed close to a fountain contributed to improve the framework of life. The church magnificiently restored attracts, with famous Chemin of Cross of Gabriel Saury, of very many visitors.

Achievements have just been done: a room for the sport, a meeting room, a space children and a village hall in the course of restoration. The population is young and the economic activity in full dynamism.

Personalities related to the commune

The president of the Republic, Albert Lebrun (of 1932 to 1940) left his name in the village thanks to the local gastronomy. Indeed, whereas it was in official visit in Besancon, it was requested from the Barrey Hotel with restaurant to prepare in particular a " Crust in Morille" , gastronomical speciality of the house. Since and in homage to this statesman, this delicious dish always been useful in this establishment preserved the name: " crust with the Morels Albert Lebrun".
