Orazio Vecchi
Orazio Vecchi (Modena, December 6th 1550 - Modena, February 19th 1605), Italian Type-setter .
Biography
He was choirmaster of several Italian cities of which Modena. He worked in particular with Giovanni Gabrieli at the end of the XVIième century. Its work is composed of some religious parts but it is primarily known for its madrigalesques comedies of which most famous is the Amfiparnasso (1597)
Amfiparnasso
It is composed of three acts, is conceived primarily for hearing and not for the representation, like specifies it the type-setter as of the prolog. The title ( double Parnassus ) insists on the poetic and musical character of the composition., the text alternates Italian popular and elegant, onomatopoeias and cries of animals, dialogs between servants and Masters in a spirit comedia LED' arte . This work inspired largely Adriano Banchieri, another madrigalist.
