Céneré saint of Saulges (VIIe century)
- Céneré would have been born with Spolète close to Rome (Italy) shortly after the year 600. Raised in a Christian family, he became monk Benedictine (Monastic order founded by Saint Benoit in 529) and entered to the service of the pope Martin Ier. This last sent it to preach as a Gaulle mérovingienne; Céneré arrived in company of his/her holy brother Céneri in the diocese of the Mans, with Saulges ( Salvia ) towards 649 - 650. One says that it made spout out a source close to the Erve, to the place where the oratory is built today which bears its name. It founded a Christian community which builds the church Saint Pierre in the borough of Saulges. He died on July 21st 680. He is also called Sérène or Sérenède .
