Opus tesselatum
The opus tesselatum (of Latin tessella , cubic, die to be played) is the current form of mosaic ancient. The drawing in black and white or color is carried out by the provision of roughly cubic stones ( tesselles ), of centimetric size, inserted in regular bands in a mortar of support. This technique of mosaic is appropriate well for the geometrical drawings and is in particular employed for the reasons for filling or the funds.
