Opus sectile
the opus sectile (“cut out apparatus”) is carried out with plates of Marbre or stones of color, sometimes of glass coloured, cut out and assembled in order to constitute an often figurative drawing.
It was employed in the last centuries of the Roman Empire then at the time of the Renaissance, one finds of them good examples with Ostie in Italy.
