Opt Out, term marketing or legal qualifying an address email. One also speaks about permission marketing .

This term is generally used in direct Marketing to qualify the use of a file email.

An address opt-out is an address whose owner did not refuse, following a preliminary sending by email, to belong to the mailing list. An address opt-out is the equivalent of a tacit agreement.

The opt-out is opposed to the address known as Opt-in or double opt in, whose agreement was expressly formulated.

According to the countries the legal requirements are different with regard to the permission marketing.

In France

Each individual has a right of access with his personal data, a right of correction, opposition and suppression.

The Data-processing law and Freedoms frame the use of direct marketing. The law of January 6th, 1978, update on August 6th, 2004, reinforces the protection of the personal data. The National Commission of data processing and freedoms (CNIL) puts forth recommendations on the use of this type of data.
