Oppenheim

Oppenheim is a city of the Land of the Rhineland-Palatinat (Rheinland-Pfalz) located at the edge of the Rhine, halfway between Mainz (Mainz) and Worms (city).
History
The Romans founded a camp, the site there being an ideal strategic place. Heights of the city, the glance embraces the valley of the the Rhine, of Mannheim to Francfort-sur-le-Main. Some traces of the Roman presence were preserved in the basements of the city. The hill was bored of gallery to the Middle Ages which were used as cellars with vivres and of refuges. During the Second world war, a part was transformed into bunker by the Nazis.The city becomes a place of important trade; the passport of Oppenheim was very recognized.
The city was devastated and burned twice by the French under Louis XIV, on order of Charles of Orleans, which would have exclaimed: " Palatinat must burn! " ; for this reason, it comprises only few important old buildings today, except the cathedral which was saved.
