Ophrys of Provence
The Ophrys of Provence ( Ophrys provincialis (Baumann & Künkele) Paulus, 1988) is a plant of the family of the Orchidaceae which one meets only in the south-east of the France and can be in the north of the Italy. The Ophrys of Provence belongs to the section Euophrys Godfery 1928 of the kind Ophrys .
Characteristics
The Ophrys provincialis is a 20-40 height cm terrestrial orchis. It flowers from March to May in a rather loose inflorescence which is generally composed of 4 to 8 flowers.The Sépale S are green, sometimes slightly blanchâtres or rosy.
The Pétale S are green-brownish, the edges are generally slightly corrugated.
The labelle reddish is generally whole, sometimes very slightly trefoil. The labelle one comprises a fine glabrous edge generally not very visible, of a clearer red or yellow. It ends in a triangular, small but clearly visible appendix yellowish. The base is sometimes equipped with two gibbosities similar to mainly visible bumps of profile. The rather wide macula, gray-bluish, is clearly bordered of a white edging. The basal field is of a sharper red characteristic. The Ophrys of Provence is also characterized by pseudo-eyes noirâtres located in the stigmatic cavity and connected by a white edge.
Like many other Ophrys, the Ophrys provincialis appreciates the dry lawns limestones, rather in full light, the edges of way are appropriate to him rather well.
