Ophrys fly

The Ophrys fly ( Ophrys will insectifera ) is a European orchis terrestrial which owes its name with the appearance of its flower (which resembles a Mouche sinks).

Etymology

  • Ophrus means eyebrow.

  • will insectifera: of Latin insecta (Insect S) and fero (I carry)

Flowering

In France, from April at July, according to altitude.

Habitat

This species meets in full light or in semi-shade, on grounds especially limestones, in the lawns, wood lights,

Morphology

  • green Sepals with darker green vein.

  • black Petals and very courts.
  • black, trefoil brown Labelle. The central lobe is itself bifide. Brown-blue in the center mackles.
  • reddish pollinic Cabins.

Surface of distribution

Plant spread in France, but absent in Brittany and Corsica.

Protection

Protected space in France in certain areas (Auvergne, Poitou-Charentes, Nord-Pas-de-Calais). Like in Ile-de-France (Chalo-Saint March 91).

Remarks

Species easy to identify and little variable. O. will insectifera can however hybrider with O. aymonini , species which is rather close for him
