Operation of the United Nations in Mozambique

History

The Opération of the United Nations in Mozambique was installation the October 13rd 1992 by the Resolution n° 782 of the Safety advice to assist the implementation of the peace agreements signed between the President of the Mozambique Joaquim Chissano and chair it national Résistance of Mozambique (RENAMO), Afonso Dhlakama. The mandate was to facilitate the implementation of the agreements, to supervise the respect of the cease-fire, to supervise the withdrawal of the foreign armed forces, to ensure the safety in the corridors of transport, like supervising and providing an technical assistance to the electoral process. The ONUMOZ operated December 1992 at December 1994.

The ribbon

The ribbon is composed of five bands pale green (5 mm), white (5 mm), blue UNO (13 mm), white (5 mm) and pale green (5 mm).

Attribution

This medal is decreed in 90 days recognition of service as from 1992.
