Operación Foxley

There exist four types of public transport in Guyana.

  • the buses
  • air links.
  • interurban conveyers.
  • the dugouts taxi.

The buses of the Mixed trade-union of joint Tranport serve only the town of Cayenne. There exist 5 lines. The price of the tichet, with the normal tariff, is of 1,10 €. Line 1 serves the street lalouette, the place of the Cabbage trees, the road of Montabo, Suzini and part of the road of Baduel. Line 2 serves the Avenue of freedom, the Boulevard of the Republic, part of the road of Baduel, the city known as " Mount-Lucas" , the Consulate of Brazil, and part of the road of Montabo, and stop with the Novotel hotel. Line 3 serves the hospital, the road of the Tiger and part of the road of Rope. Line 4 serves the road of the madeleine and the zone collery. Line 5 serves certain cities of the South of Cayenne, the hospital, the road of the Tiger. Separately line 4, all these buses leave the market to the fruit and vegetables.

The air links (Air Guyana) daily connect Cayenne to Saint Georges, Maripasoula and Saul. (Price of 100€ with 120 € A/R)

The interurban conveyers (known as shared taxis) propose to the travellers to take seat in minibuses of 9 places. Their schedules are random, since they leave ONLY when the minibus is filled. They make it possible to connect all the communes of the littoral, i.e. (of west in is) Saint Laurent, Mana, Sinnamary, Iracoubo, Kourou, Cayenne, Cacao, Regina and Saint Georges. To give an order of idea Cayenne-Kourou 10 €, Cayenne-Saint Georges 40 €.

The Pirog S taxis are only at Saint Laurent of Maroni to go in Apatou (located at Three hours on Maroni). The departure is carried out the every day at 11 a.m. (Dégrad of the Saint Laurent refrigerator) and the return around 7 hours of the morning. The price is of 11€ one-way ticket.
