The customer support is generally done via the official forum.

The development of OpenWrt is possible because the manufacturers placed some Firmware S under license LPG. Used as bases, the developers legally could work on firmwares integrating of the functionalities absent from the firmwares of origin.

The Noyau Linux currently used by OpenWrt is the 2.4.30 and uses the manager of package IPKG in order to facilitate the installation of packages such as for example, Tor or OpenVPN.

The sixth version of OpenWrt 0.9 names White Russian and left the February 3rd 2007. The firmware is available here for the various compatible models.

A new version of openwrt is also available under the name of kamikaze. The current version is 7.07 and is available under several platforms what required some change. Indeed for a greater compatibility of model the variables nvram disappeared to be replaced by files of configuration. Another considerable aspect for the moment is the abscence of interface Web (webif) to configure the access point. It is thus important for the people who would like to update with this version to take account of this last point. A positive point of this version and the possibility of making multi-ssid up to now impossible with the previous model.

Sveasoft discusses

March 11th, 2006, the developers of OpenWrt announced that Sveasoft had violated the license LPG and that it used portions of OpenWrt. In return Sveasoft protested on the contrary that OpenWrt used code property of Sveasoft and Broadcom and that the developers of OpenWrt had placed this code under license LPG without the agreement of the owners. The two groups refute these respective charges.
