OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV) is one of the world leading vendors of solutions as regards digital television and interactive. The OpenTV company was founded in 1994 by Thomson Multimedia SA and Sun Microsystems.

OpenTV is quoted on the stock exchange ( Nasdaq: OPTV) since 1999. The majority shareholder is Kudelski Group (SWX Swiss Exchange: KUD.VX).
The middleware of OpenTV is a class of software which ensures the intermediary between the applications (Guide of programs, Vidéo to the request, trades, plays), the data transmission by the networks and the decoder. This “median software” for television provides an interactive and personalized experiment and makes it possible the developers to quickly code applications by using the application program interface of application (API) provided by OpenTV.
