Onusida

ONUSIDA (English UNAIDS) is a program of UNO intended to coordinate the action of different the specialized agencies from UNO to fight against the Pandémie of HIV/AIDS.

It was created on February 1st 1995 and its seat is with Geneva, in Suisse. Its current director is the Doctor of medicine Peter Piot.

Role

One cannot fight effectively the VIH/SIDA only while attacking the medical aspect. Of share its mode of transmission and the expansion of the Pandemia, the VIH/SIDA affects all the aspects of the human society. During the first years of the propagation of the VIH/SIDA, the specialized agencies of UNO and the State S had each one their program. And very few of these programs functioned jointly to increase their effectiveness. It is to coordinate all these programs that ONUSIDA was created.

Its principal role is not thus to subsidize different the programs of fight against the VIH/SIDA, but to coordinate them the activities.

Its supporting role is to provide information on all the consequences which pandemia involves. As well at the medical level (like the number of infected people), as social (living condition of the sidéens) or economic (impact of pandemia on the economy of the countries).

Its third role is to be used as engine with a comprehensive policy of fight against AIDS (like the creation of certain programs).
