Ontarian general election of 1975

The Ontarian general election of 1975 is held the September 18th 1975 in order to elect the 125 Député S of the 30e legislature to the legislative Assemblée of the Ontario (Canada). It is about the 30e general election since the Canadian Confédération of 1867.

The Left progressist-conservative Ontario, directed by Bill Davis, gains a ninth consecutive mandate with the slogan “  Your future. Your choix.  ” However, it loses its majority with the legislative Parliament for the first time since the general election of 1945; it gains 27 seats of less than it had not obtained at the time of the preceding election.

The New Democratic party of Ontario (social democrat), directed by Stephen Lewis, double her representation with the legislative Parliament and becomes the Official opposition after a campaign which put the emphase on the control of the rents with stories of horror on bad owners and exorbitant increases of rent. The countryside obliges the tories of Davis to promise to control the rents little before the poll.

The Liberal party of Ontario, directed by Robert Nixon, gains 15 additional seats, but loses its statute of Official opposition to the profit of the NPD. A member of the caucus is elected under the banner liberal-member of the Labor Party.
