Oniisama He

Oniisama He ( very dear brother in Francophonie) is a Manga of Riyoko Ikeda, published in 1975 and adapted thereafter in Anime.

Summary of the history

Misonoo Nanako, the narrator of the history, has just entered a prestigious school of girls named Seiran Gakuen with her Tomoko friend. She writes regularly with a student that she met with the courses of the evening, Takehiko; she regards it as the big brother that she forever have ( Oniisama E means Dear big brother in Japanese).

Little time after its arrival, Nanako is allowed, against any waiting, with the Sorority Club , a private club bringing together the most beautiful girls, richest and most irreproachable of the college, directed by Ichinomiya Fukiko known as Miya-sama. Between his/her jealous comrades not to have been they also allowed and the environment not so idyllic which reigns with the Sorority Club , Nanako will come out from it deeply affected.

Manga

The manga Oniisama He was published for the first time in 1975 in 3 volumes by Shueisha and was the subject of a republication in only one volume by Choukoro-sha.

Animated series

In 1991, an adapted animated series of the manga was produced by NHK. It was diffused in France on TF1 under the name of Très dear brother as from April 1993, but because work was not addressed to a childish public, the series was quickly censured before stopping the diffusion completely. The series was finally published in DVD at Kaze in 2004.

Main characters

  • Misonoo Nanako : the narrator of the history. Nanako is an ingenuous young girl of which the only ambition is to be liked of all. Its admission with the Sorority Club however starts a swirl of jealousies and threats around it, which almost make him lose the friendship of Tomoko. It is however comforted by its correspondent and certain faithful friends like Kaoru.
  • Arikura Tomoko : since childhood, it is the best friend of Nanako, but the admission of the latter to the Sorority Club (where Tomoko was not allowed) and the lies of Mariko scramble it with Nanako. In animates, this estrangement ends up being dissipated and Tomoko becomes even friendly with Mariko.
  • Shinobu Mariko : a very proud young girl of its beauty, which wants to become the best friend of Nanako and, consequently, is very jealous of the relation between the latter and Tomoko. She tries to scramble the two friends. In fact, one discovers that she suffers from a serious lack of love since his/her parents are in divorce pending.
  • Orihara Kaoru alias Kaoru No Kimi (Prince Kaoru): an young girl with the pace androgyne until in his name (with the Japan, Kaoru is a first name which can be given as well to a boy as with a girl). Equipped with a great vitality, it directs the team of tennis shoe of the school and does not support the injustices. It is the best friend of Rei than she would like to see to leave herself there.
  • Asaka Rei alias Saint-Just: another girl androgyne whose beauty and the multiple talents force the admiration of all and in particular of Nanako. She destroys herself however with drug and squall, and suffers much to see Fukiko hating it. She is made call Saint-Just according to the French revolutionist of the same name, that she admires.
  • Ichinomiya Fukiko alias Miya-sama: the president of the Sorority Club , an young girl with the refined paces and seemingly to tend, but able to be proof of most extreme spite. She hates Rei for obscure reasons particularly. It is it which decided the admission of Nanako to the Club, with the general surprise; its attitude towards Nanako however progressively varies the EC what she learns on the relation from the latter with Rei.
  • Henmi Takehiko : the correspondent of Nanako. It is student and dreams to study in Germany. It is very attached to Nanako, in particular because it is closer to it than it believes it.
  • Ichinomiya Takashi : the best friend of Takehiko. It has a mysterious bond with Rei, and is secretly in love with Mariko.
  • Misaki Aya : girl of a famous lawyer, Aya in vain tries to enter to the Sorority Club of which his/her mother formerly formed part. She is jealous of the novel members of the Club, in particular of Nanako which she judges unworthy to form part. She is always accompanied by two girls as malicious as she, Furuta and Sonobe.
  • parents of Nanako : Forever known Nanako his/her true father, who was not married with his mother. This one was remariée with Mr. Masanoo, a professor of university which had had a son of a first marriage. This wire did not support that his/her father leaves his mother to live with another woman, and has running away. It would be acted in fact of Takehiko.
  • parents of Mariko : the father of Mariko writes pornographic novels and misleads his wife with a younger girl (perhaps even several). Mariko hates it, but one does not know too much which are its feelings for his/her mother, a very unobtrusive woman. They are about to divorce.

In the French version

In the French version, the Sorority Club is called “the Circle of the Rose” or “the Club of the Pinks”.
