Oneille
Oneille ( Italian Oneglia in ) is, with Oporto Maurizio, one of the rioni (principal inhabited centers), which constituted the commune of Imperia (Ligurie) in 1923.
C' is the birthplace of the famous sailor Andrea Doria, admiral of Genoa.
Wedged in the Republic of Genoa, it belonged a long time to the Maison of Savoy as a principality. And since 1614 and until 1796, then of 1814 to 1848, the territory of Oneille became the seat of the one of the prefectures within the competence of the Sénat of Nice.
It nourished regular exchanges with Marseilles at the 18th century, in particular for the sale of the olive oil which used the composition of the Household soap.
The dialect of its inhabitants is closer to the Piémontais than of the Ligure.
