One shot

See also: One shot (collective)

The term One shot is especially used to indicate a Cartoon in only one volume, in particular a Manga or for Romance graphs.

Many artists use this option to tell a short history which would not be integrated in a series, or to test a new idea.

It is also used in Roleplay to indicate a short Scénario, or which one will not exploit the characters the duration or who will not last more than one meeting of play.

In the field of the plays, and particularly of the video games, the term is used to characterize an attack having eliminated the target thanks to blow or a single shooting, whereas several are normally necessary. That can be due to:

  • a touch on a part criticizes adversary (head, heart…) in the plays where the localization of the blows is possible;
  • a random pulling corresponding to a critical blow (in the Roleplays or Strategy games).
