Analyzes words
Like the other songs of
The Wall ,
One off My Turns tells part of the history of Pink, the main character of the album. Pink invites a
Groupie in its room after having discovered the lover of his wife. When the groupie tries to have its attention, it is too occupied thinking of his wife to hear it. Like the continuous groupie to try to have its attention, Pink embarks in an anger forces and destroys its room, under the terrified glance of the groupie.
Roger Toilets, the author of the song, summarized its own experiences in an interview for
Radio One :
One off My Turns sounds like a viscous acid song; in fact, that arrived to me years ago, perhaps six or seven years. It was a little as what I lived, but I would never have said it, because I was really too afraid of all. I think that in the rock'n'roll much of people are frightened per many things. But to be upright on a scene with a few thousands of Watts behind you, it is one of the surest places in the world. It is like driving a very powerful car. All that has much power makes you feel safe more, at least temporarily. I refer to all that in Young Lust . In One off My Turns , all is terribly confus.
Version of film
In adapted film of the album,
Pink Floyd The Wall , Pink inserts a groupie in its hotel room. After it tried to allure Pink, it enters a rage insane and destroyed its room, cutting its own hand after having thrown its television through the window.
