One Sunday afternoon in the Island of the Large Bowl
One Sunday afternoon with the Île of the Large Bowl is a table of Georges Seurat, visible with the Art Institute off Chicago.
This colossal table has a cold aspect, from the technique which Seurat employs. It tries to reach “achromatisation”, i.e. to eliminate the irisation from the light. Indeed, when a bulb is looked at, it is surrounded by a luminous halation. Seurat eliminates these rays to keep only the exact color of an object under precise conditions atmospheric.
One notices that Seurat also painted the framing of its table, with his technique divisionnist.
