One (Metallica)
One is the song worship of the album … And Justice For All of Metallica. It is founded on the non-moins legendary novel Johnny is gone-T from there war - Johnny got his gun - of Dalton Trumbo adapted to the screen and carried like film-worship and symbol of the pacifist fight to the the United States at the time of the Guerre of Vietnam. The words describe the hell lived by a war wounded (amputee of its arms and its legs, blind man and dumb man) whose life is maintained only artificially and whose only wish is to die. The reference to film of Trumbo is explicit in the clip of the song, indeed it comprises many images and audio extracts drawn from film. This clip is the first of Metallica.
It should be noted that in the original version of One, the low one of Jason Newsted is absent. However in the versions S&M and live, this one is present. That confirms the idea that this last was made in connection with its place in the group, that it will never be able with the eyes of its partners, replace and be on the level of Cliff Burton. It was one of the causes of its departure in 2001.
