Onesti is located in the depression of Tazlau-Casin, at an average altitude of 200 Mr. His geographical coordinates are of 46°13' NR (latitude) and 26°47' E (longitude).

History

The city was founded the December 14th 1458. From 1965 with 1990, it was renamed Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej , of the name of the Head of the Rumanian State died in 1965.
