Onchan

In Mannois, the parish and the village have different names. One says Connaghyn (“Saint-Conchan”) for the parish and Kione Droghad (“End of the bridge”) for the village.

Kione Droghad

Onchan is regarded as a dormitory town insofar as the majority of its inhabitants work in the area the Douglas one.

The village has two schools and a college. One finds there also many shops, including one small Shopping mall ( Onchan Village Walk ), and a Recreation park ( Onchan Pleasure Park ), which includes/understands a water level, a course of Golf, a ground of Football, courts of Tennis and a circuit of Karting.

Connaghyn

Onchan (called in the past “Conchan” because it was devoted to Conchan saint) is located on a bay at north the Douglas one. The parish extends from Cairn Gerjoil and Port Groudle until the town of Douglas, and the river Glass and the East Baldwin Valley until the Irish Sea.
