On listening ( The Wire ) is a Televised series American created by David Simon and diffused since the June 2nd 2002 on the network HBO. In France, the series was diffused starting from the January 8th 2004 on Jimmy.

Synopsis

The milked series of the traffic of Drug in the town of Baltimore and more precisely, of the combat carried out jointly by a policeman criminal and drug squad. It follows the course, on a side, police force and, other, traffickers.

Comments

Series, very realistic and very complex (because of the great number of protagonists and the relations which they maintain), we makes discover the techniques used by the police force to collect evidence, to reassemble the die and thus to try to stop the true persons in charge of the traffics in all kinds: dope but also milked the white ones in the second season.

It is a dark and pessimistic series. It points the lack of means of the police force (obsolete equipment, personnel démotivés or corrupted) and the disinterest of the hierarchy for the businesses “dérangeantes”. All the attempts of the police force for éradiquer the traffics in any kind are dedicated to the failure: the traffics are opposed, slow down, decrease a time before beginning again of more beautiful.

The format is rather original: each season corresponds to an investigation but that obliges the spectator to have seen the preceding episodes for locating the action well. It is perhaps the reason for which the series did not meet success in spite of a unanimous criticism.

Each new episode opens on a quotation of a character put forward.

The series generally received a very good criticism and is even regarded by several newspapers ( The Chicago Tribune , Newsday , The San Francisco Chronicle , Variety , The New York Post and The San Jose Mercury News ) as the best series of all the history of American television.

First season

The first season sees the training of a team of investigators charged to dismantle the drug trafficking in a district of Baltimore, with at its head a caïd: Avon Barksdale.

Second season

The second season concentrates on the traffics in all kinds present in the wearing of Baltimore, where the bodies of fourteen women were found in a container.

Third season

The third season marks the return to the streets of Baltimore, theater of the first season, and attempts to develop a political intrigue in prelude to the municipal elections of the following season.

Fourth season

The fourth season insists on the failure of the policy of American education and peels the mechanisms which lead youth to violence.
