Omobono
Holy Omobono or holy Hommebon de Crémone , in Italian Uomobuono Ticingo , German Homobonus or Gutman , owner of the tailors, celebrates on November 13rd, was born at the beginning of the 12th century, with Crémone in Italy, it died in the same city in 1197.
It was married, and thought that God had allowed him to work so that it can help the others which could not it.
Omobono had inherited his/her father, a tailor and a prosperous merchant. He exerted his trade with a scrupulous honesty and practiced alms with the poor regularly, even if his wife made him the reproach of it, to believe of it the author of the Vita Sancti Homoboni .
The every day, it went to the Mass to receive the Eucharistie there. While waiting for the beginning of the office, it was prosternait in front of the cross.
He died on November 13rd 1197, in meditation in front of the crucifix of the church St Gilles where he was going to request daily. Two years only later, the Pope Innocent III canonized it, at the pressing request of the inhabitants of Crémone. and regarded it as Père of the Poor , Consolateur of afflicted the , Homme of peace . He is a laic model of saint.
The church Sant Omobono, with Rome, is dedicated to him. In Brussels, its statue always decorates the Maison of the Tailors to the Grand-Place, from where it tightens the arm with the top of the passers by as a sign of blessing.
In a letter dated June 24th, 1997, addressed to monseigneur Giulio Nicolini, bishop of Casement bolt, the Pope Jean Paul II said of him: “ Eight centuries later, the figure of Omobono Saint continues to live in the memory and the heart of the church and the town of Casement bolt ”.
Veneration
Recently, with the the United States, a particular veneration of Omobono Saint was observed. Being patron saint of the workers and businessmen, statuettes and holy pictures were published and distributed in the work world. A prayer is registered there: Holy Omobono, I request from you so that you grant to me your divine assistance in my work environment. That my superiors notice me and grant a promotion to me. Protect me from relegation to a station subordinate, and scandal. Amen .
