Omo 1 and Omo 2 are the names allotted to two cranium S discovered with Kibish, in Ethiopia, 1967.

Their name is borrowed from that of the river Omo in the south of which the site of their discovery is.

Their morphology is recognized like that of Homo sapiens , but until 2005 their dating specifies had not been established, the estimate was then 130.000 years. Discovered bones with Herto into 1997 dated, in 2003, 154.000 years had then been able to claim to be oldest ossement of type Homo sapiens known, and for the event were called Homo sapiens idaltu .

It is only in February 2005, with a new dating established by Ian McDougall starting from the sediments in which the craniums Omo 1 and Omo 2 had been found, which those one gone back to approximately 195.000 years.

They are today oldest ossement of Homo sapiens discovered. They support the current estimate of the appearance of Homo sapiens with approximately of -200 000 years.
