History

One found evidence of occupation going back with prehistory and antiquity.

Old episcopal field, Ommeray was a stronghold of évêché of Metz on which it depended like Généralité and habit. It concerned the Bailliage of Vic.

Before the closing of the saltworks of Moyenvic and Lezey, a channel of floatation of 16  800m followed the bed of Nard. It was used to feed out of wood the saltworks. Another channel made it possible to convey the wood of the forest of Réchicourt-the-Castle to Lagarde, the barks being transported by carriage on the 6km separating Lagarde from Ommeray. Ommeray was used then as warehouse for this wood before its transfer for Moyenvic

Old commune of the Meurthe, the village takes the German name of Ommerich after the annexation of 1870.
