Ommadawn
Ommadawn is the third album of the Musicien Britannique Mike Oldfield, published in 1975.
General information
Regarded as one of its best albums by its fans, Ommadawn is a precursory album of the World music. He proposes two long twenty minute old beaches or the rock'n'roll mixes with the Celtic or African influences. Electric guitars, flutes, bagpipes (played by Paddy Moloney of the Chieftains), choruses and rhythmic African develop to with it topics hypnotic, sometimes serene or distressing.
The album was composed and recorded in the months which followed the death of the mother of Mike Oldfield, this probably explaining the tension and the intensity of the music appearing there.
The album is concluded by one from the rare songs sung by Mike Oldfield: One horseback (song integrated into the share 2 ). The artist tells there his passion for horsemanship, pleasure discovered during the same time.
