Omidyar Network

Omidyar Network was founded in June 2004 by the founder of EBay, Pierre Omidyar, and his wife WFP. Omidyar Network aims to increase the range of the investments of the Omidyar foundation while supporting, not only projects with not-lucrative goal, but also of the companies with lucrative goal and public initiatives which they regard as supporting car-enabling.

In addition to the corporative Web site, Omidyar Network accommodates omidyar.net, a community organized around spaces of discussion and wikis.

The community is defined, on the banner page, by these some words:

  • We all are here because we believe in the possibility of acting for a better world

  • We believe in the reports/ratios of respect with the others
  • We believe than each one has something to bring

The members of the community have at their disposal a system of Rétroaction (Feedback) which makes it possible to express the interest, or reserves it, that they have in connection with a person, of a discussion, a comment or a Wiki. This famous system of reputation/confidence which made the success of EBay.
