Omar Belhouchet

Omar Belhouchet is an Algerian journalist .

Director of the daily newspaper El Watan, it is condemned for “attack to constitutional body” as it denounces the murders of the journalists during the “decade of terrorism” in Algeria, 57 between 1993 and 1996, and it is shown of slandering after the publication of an article, on December 11th, 2001, on nominations with the department of the information and safety (DRS), Algerian intelligence service.

It received the Plume of gold of freedom in 1994, reward which greets the engagements for freedom of the press under difficult conditions.
