Olympus is a manufacturer Japan boards of cameras.

The company

Created on October 12th, 1919 by Takeshi Yamashita under the name Takachiho Seisakusho , re-elected Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. on May 28th, 1942 then Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. on January 1st, 1949 and finally Olympus Corporation on October 1st, 2003.

In Greek mythology, the Olympe mount is the place of residence of the twelve principal gods. The name Olympus was chosen by similarity with the Japanese name Takamagahara, place of residence of eight million gods and goddesses.

Olympus is present in two great fields:

At the time of the passage of silver to numerical, Olympus to reconsider the optical formulas of its objectives to eliminate the defect from the numerical sensors which is the weak answer of the cell with rays incident. The new optical formulas allow that the light radiation arrive almost at the perpendicular of the cell for better an answer.
This mounting open to other manufacturer, also has was chosen by Leica, and Panasonic.

Olympus has thus to create its new range of optics ZUIKO DIGITAL to divide between three levels.

  • Standard : Basic Optical with moderate tariff
  • Pro: Luminous Optical of high-quality with Tropicalization of the objectives
  • Signal Pro: Optique with opening fixes high-quality with Tropicalisation
