Olympic stadium Yves-of-Manor
The site of the stage of Colombes is dedicated to the sport since 1883. It is in the beginning a hippodrome of the “Company of the Races of Doves”. In 1907, the hippodrome is bought by the Parisian daily newspaper the Morning . The hippodrome is transformed into stage and accommodates competitions of athletics, Rugby and football since 1907. The enclosure is then renamed “Stage of the Morning”.
The Racing Club of France becomes tenant of the installations of Doves in 1920. The weight of the club sky and white incontestably plays a part in the choice of Doves, considered to be worst of the projects, in the choice of the Olympic stadium of the Olympic Games of summer of 1924. The Wood of Vincennes or the Parc of the Princes offered indeed possibilities much more interesting, because nearer to the capital. Doves will always suffer from its localization. Thus, Racing will evolve/move, since 1932, with the Park of the Princes rather than in Colombes.
Indicated like principal Olympic stadium, Colombes benefits from the funds resolved to carry its capacity to more than 60.000 places, in spite of a preliminary draft of 100.000 places. Afterwards many palaver and even the abandonment of the project of Doves, it is finally the architect Louis Faure-Dujarric, captain of the team of Rugby to XV of Racing, which signs work.
The new enclosure is renamed in 1928 in the name of a player of Rugby to XV of Racing and hope of the national team, Yves of the Manor which has just committed suicide in the plane.
The stage of Doves also accommodated many events, in particular of the football games, like the final of the Football world cup 1938, gained by the Italy against the Hungary, or of many finales of Coupe de France.
Completely decayed enclosure as of the years 1980, the three quarters of the platforms are prohibited with the public with the beginning of the year 1990, then shaven. Only the principal platform, equipped with some 7.000 seats remains today. It is there that RC Paris evolves/moves today.
