The Jeux of XXXe Olympiade of the modern era will be celebrated in 2012 with London. The Olympic city was chosen and announced at the time of the 117e session of the International Olympic committee (CIO), the July 6th 2005 with Singapore.

The initial reactions of the public, according to a survey carried out on the Web site of BBC, were largely negative: more than 83% of the 16.000 votes allotted the bad mark to him. The Steering Committee then announced that the logo will be fortunately reconsidered during the five next years.

The number of Olympic sports, corresponding to the number of international federations, is thus fixed at 26 for these plays of London: athletics, oar, badminton, basketball, box, canoe-kayak, cycling, horsemanship, fencing, football, gymnastics, haltérophilie, handball, hockey, judo, fight, swimming, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shooting, shooting with the arc, triathlon, veil and volley ball.
