The Jeux of XXXe Olympiade of the modern era will be celebrated in 2012 with London. The Olympic city was chosen and announced at the time of the 117e session of the International Olympic committee (CIO), the July 6th 2005 with Singapore.

Logo
There were two logos for London 2012: one for the procedure of candidature and the other as a mark of the Plays themselves. This last, drawn by Wolf Olins, was revealed the June 4th 2007 and cost 400.000 delivers S (either approximately 590.000 Euro S). This new logo is the stylized representation of the number 2012 with the Olympic rings registered in the figure Zero. It is declined 4 colors and for the first time, it will be used as well for the Olympic Games as the Plays paralympic.The initial reactions of the public, according to a survey carried out on the Web site of BBC, were largely negative: more than 83% of the 16.000 votes allotted the bad mark to him. The Steering Committee then announced that the logo will be fortunately reconsidered during the five next years.
In addition, of made up video animations starting from this logo were prohibited by the British audio-visual regulatory agency. Representing geometrical reasons moving very fast jerked, they caused serious attacks at the people epileptics.
Sports with the program
At the time of the 117e session of the International Olympic committee, joined together with Singapore, the Baseball and the Softball were excluded from the list of the Olympic sports, reducing to 26 the number of disciplines for the Plays of London 2012. The list of the Olympic sports of summer is not immutable any more and will be called in question after each Olympic Games, only the quotas of competitions (301) and the number of athletes (10.500) will remain fixed.At this same session, the CIO also rejected the entry of five new sports with the plays of summer: the Golf, the Roller and the Rugby to 7 were eliminated from entry, while the Squash and the Karaté obtained 51% of the votes, which made them eligible, but did not join together the necessary majority of two thirds.
The number of Olympic sports, corresponding to the number of international federations, is thus fixed at 26 for these plays of London: athletics, oar, badminton, basketball, box, canoe-kayak, cycling, horsemanship, fencing, football, gymnastics, haltérophilie, handball, hockey, judo, fight, swimming, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shooting, shooting with the arc, triathlon, veil and volley ball.
