Male tournament
Context
This Olympiad joins together 17 nations. The competition proceeds in single hen, all rounds.
The FIDE decides to hold this competition with the only players amateurs, but leaves with each federation the care to define their own statute of amateur. This involves conflicts, and the British, suspectant the Americans to send professional players, withdraw competition. At the beginning of the tournament, the FIDE reconsiders its position and makes it possible to the players present to take share with the tournament. Unfortunately, much of federations had already sent their representatives, while depriving itself of the professionals. Moreover, one individual tournament was organized in parallel (gained by Euwe), preventing some good amateurs from appearing in the competation by country.
It is the single Olympiad of failures reserved to the only amateurs theoretically.
