Olt
The Olt (in Rumanian: Olt , in Hungarian: Olt , in German: Alt , in Latin: Alutus or Aluta ) is a river of Romania. It takes its source in the Mounts Hăşmaşu Mare in the east of the Carpates at an altitude of 1440m. It sprinkles the judeţe Harghita, of Covasna, Braşov, Sibiu, Vâlcea and Olt. It was known like Alutus or Aluta in Roman antiquity.
The towns of Miercurea-Ciuc, Sfântu Gheorghe, Făgăraş, Râmnicu Vâlcea and Slatina are on Olt, which is thrown in the the Danube beside Turnu Măgurele.
Its affluents are the Raul Negru, the Bârsa, the Cibin and the Ghimbăşel.
