Olof Rudbeck (its name is sometimes Latinized in Olaus Johannis Rudbeckius ) is a Naturaliste and a author Swedish, born the September 13rd 1630 with Västerås, Västmanland and dead the December 12th 1702 with Uppsala.

His/her parents are Johannes Johannis Rudbeckius (1581-1646), bishop of Västerås, and Magdalena Carlsdotter Hising (1602-1649). It Marie with Wendela Lohrman (1637-1711), union of which will be born a son, Olof Rudbeck the Young person (1660-1740), who will become doctor and naturalist.

Professor of medicine in Uppsala, it is one of the two doctors who discovers the lymphatic Système, which contributes to the success of its career. To facilitate its studies of the anatomy, it makes build a cupola above Gustavianum, the principal building of the Université of Uppsala, and an amphitheater to enable him to make dissections in front of its students. Rudbeck is also interested in other scientific fields like the Astronomie. The large fire which destroys part of Uppsala in 1702 also consumes most of its writings.
